Botox® (for underarm sweating)
Hyperhidrosis is defined as excessive sweating, more than is required for the body to maintain optimal temperature. Many sufferers are aware of how their daily lives are affected, personally, emotionally and professionally.
Botox works by interrupting the signal from the nerve to the sweat gland so that the sweat gland stops producing excessive sweat. Significant reduction in sweating occurs within a few days usually and the average treatment lasts about seven months. The underarm area is injected with tiny needles. The treatment is generally well-tolerated and does not require any anaesthetics. The cost of the drug may be covered by some insurance companies. There is an additional injection fee.
