Unwanted facial or leg veins may be best treated with a combination approach (eg. Sclerotherapy, IPL, laser veins).

Unwanted facial or leg veins may be best treated with a combination approach (eg. Sclerotherapy, IPL, laser veins). A consultation with a physician who is versed in all possible treatments is suggested.

At Glow Medi Spa, we treat superficial veins on the face (couperose) and veins on the legs (spider veins) which can create a cosmetic concern for some clients.  At our medical clinic, we have several lasers, light-based treatments such as IPL, (Intense Pulse Light), and Sclerotherapy as options for treatment for facial and leg veins. A combination approach with Sclerotherapy and laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments may also be suggested.  It is therefore important to be assessed by a physician who is skilled in both Sclerotherapy and laser vein treatments.

What is Laser Vein Treatments and what are the Indications for Use?

Lasers and light-based treatments such as IPL create heat within the veins causing them to constrict (shrink) and improve visible vessels, spider veins, broken capillaries and vascular lesions.  In comparison, Sclerotherapy involves injecting a small amount of saline (salt) and dextroxe (sugar) solution into the vein to cause irritation and subsequent vein constriction.

Lasers emit one specific wavelength of energy which travels deeper into the skin to a specified depth.  In contrast, IPL emits a broad spectrum of light energy closer to the surface of the skin.

The choice of treatment for facial or leg veins is highly dependent on the size and depth of the vein and its location. It also depends upon skin type (based on colour of the skin and ethnicity) and tanning of the skin which must be evaluated carefully.

Why Choose Dr. Diane Wong at Glow Medi Spa for Laser Vein Treatments?

Dr. Diane Wong is very skilled in both Laser Vein treatments and Sclerotherapy which is important since a combination approach is often optimal.  Based on her experience in both treatments, she is particularly skilled at determining the optimal treatment for even the most stubborn veins.

Since there is no one laser that treats all vessels optimally, Dr. Wong has carefully selected several lasers and IPL treatments for her clinic to be able to treat vessels of various size and depth, and in different skin colours.

Types of Equipment Used in Laser and Light-Based Vein Treatments at Glow Medi Spa

At Glow Medi Spa, we have several laser and light-based treatments available to treat vessels on the face and/or body.

With a variety of specialized lasers and light-based treatments, along with Sclerotherapy also available at Glow Medi Spa, we can address most cosmetic veins on the face or body.

What are the Potential Complications of Laser and Light-Based Vein Treatments?

The lasers and light-based treatments are very powerful treatments and there are potential complications.  They should not be done on clients with certain medical conditions or skin conditions.  They should be avoided in clients who are taking certain medications.  These treatments should occur in a medical clinic under medical consultation and supervision. Dr. Diane Wong and her highly trained team will see you in consultation and discuss if this treatment is right for you.

Come in for a consultation and see what a positive difference Laser Vein treatments, IPL treatments, and/or Sclerotherapy can make for your veins.
