Dr. Diane Wong, medical director of the Glow Medi Spa, Toronto, has noticed women's priorities shifting when it comes to anti-aging, with more and more inquiring about neck treatments. While crow's feet or sunspots appear gradually, necks seem to age overnight. The suddenness of change is distressing for many, she says.

For noticeable results, high-tech options are most effective, says Dr. Wong. One of her favourites is Laser Photo Rejuvenation, a procedure she dubs the lunch-time neck lift. Today's women want results without down time or pain and this treatment delivers, she says. "Clients instantly see a difference in crepiness of the skin as well as a reduction in fine lines and wrinkling." The procedure, using a Yag laser, can be carried out without pre-numbing the skin and the results are instantaneous because the laser works on cells close to the surface.

Once you've tightened the skin, you can layer on IPL for discoloration issues, Botox for vertical or horizontal lines and injectables for added volume. "Really, the patient can decide what she wants or needs to feel her best," says Dr. Wong. "Many clients have several issues, so that's where combination treatments work well." And choice, we've all come to learn along the way, is never a bad thing.
