Broken capillaries, or redness, can be prevented by using warm water to wash your face. Hot water is a vasal-dilator which can lead to the little veins in our cheeks and around our nose to break. Once broken, there is little recourse other than treatments such as Intense Pulse Light (IPL) / Photorejuvenation.

As well, avoid washing your face in the shower. The water is generally too hot, but more importantly, having the shower head pummeling down water on your face can also lead to broken blood vessels. Our skin is very thin and quite delicate. Using harsh products, such as soaps or improper exfoliants, strip the skin’s surface of the protective layer that helps keep moisture within.

Speak with your aesthetician about proper products and proper ways to use them at home. This will make a world of difference to the longevity of your treatments, and overall, to the way you see yourself in the mirror.
